Mandarin Language Expert

What you'll do

This role is built around professional localization practice, not general proofreading. You review AI-generated responses and write your own language content, scoring them with MQM and LQA ideas: error category, severity and root cause. Terminology, tone, inclusivity and cultural nuance have to be right for the Chinese locale conventions of China, and you fact-check units, names, dates and references. You also rank competing model answers. It is hourly, fully remote contract work.

Who fits

• Native or near-native Mandarin and strong command of the locale conventions for China
• English at C1 or above for guidelines and written feedback
• A bachelor's degree or higher in translation, linguistics, localization, communications or a related field
• 5+ years of professional localization or translation experience (multilingual localization strongly preferred)
• Proven use of MQM/LQA concepts and proficiency with CAT tools, translation memory and termbases

Prior AI data training, annotation or evaluation work is preferred.

What it pays

The ad says up to $40 an hour. That is the ceiling for a role asking for 5+ years of specialist experience, so the rate for a typical hire may well be lower; the ad does not say.
