Sociology Quality Assurance Lead (QAL)

What you'll do

You are the quality owner for sociology projects. You review AI-written sociology explanations, theory applications, research summaries, policy discussions and demographic interpretations, and flag stereotyping, unsupported generalizations and weak causal claims. You answer trainer questions on theory, methods and ethics, keep style guides and honeypots, run onboarding calls and chase inactive contributors.

Who fits

• A Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in sociology, social research, demography, criminology, anthropology, public policy or a close field
• 3+ years in sociology research, teaching, policy analysis, qualitative or quantitative research or academic writing
• Command of social theory, stratification, institutions, culture and research methods
• Strong English for guidelines and feedback
• Preferred: leading remote teams and survey, ethnography or statistics experience

What it pays

The ad lists up to $65 an hour and no minimum. That is more than three times the Social Sciences & Education Team Lead listing, a gap that coincides with the United States-only restriction. Payment method and timing are not set out in the listing; the SuperAnnotate company page covers the contracting setup.

Worth knowing

Good:

• High ceiling for a humanities-adjacent field
• Intellectually close to academic work
• Remote

Less good:

• The ad states there is no immediate project for this role; qualified people are first in line when a relevant project opens, and the role also gives access to the wider expert network. Expect a wait rather than a start date.
• The ad lists three selection steps: an AI interview, a domain-specific task and an interview with a recruiter.
• United States only
• Coordination duties on top of review

About this listing

Posted on SME Careers, the board where SuperAnnotate recruits subject matter experts, and read there on 27 October 2026. The board shows no posting date. Requirements and the pay ceiling are from the ad; the comparisons with sibling listings are ours. The hiring process (recorded AI interview, Deel contracting, paid bootcamp) is covered on the company page. See SuperAnnotate.
