Tamil Expert with Mathematical Background

What you'll do

You review AI-written Tamil and write reference answers of your own, then rank competing AI outputs on fluency, correctness, tone and cultural fit. The ad names the kinds of errors to hunt: mistranslation, wrong register between formal and informal, ambiguity, hallucinated facts and bias.

The unusual line in this listing is the degree: the bachelor's must be in Mathematics. The ad does not say whether the work includes mathematical content, so treat the degree as an eligibility filter and ask in the interview what the project covers.

What you need

  • A bachelor's degree or higher in Mathematics
  • Native or near-native Tamil, reading and writing
  • English at C1 or above to follow guidelines and write feedback
  • 3+ years in writing, editing, localization, translation, content QA, journalism, education or similar language work
  • Deep command of Tamil grammar, spelling and punctuation, and the ability to explain why something is wrong
  • Comfort with register and with Tamil as used in India, Sri Lanka and the diaspora

Nice to have

  • Earlier AI data training, translation QA, editorial QA or rubric-based evaluation

Where it is open

Applicants must be in India, Malaysia, Singapore or Sri Lanka, which follows where Tamil is widely spoken.

What it pays

SME Careers lists this role at up to $15 an hour. That is a ceiling, not a rate: the ad does not say what a typical contractor earns, or how hours are allocated. It does not state payment terms either; SuperAnnotate's general process (Deel contracts, a paid bootcamp, tracked hourly work) is covered on the company page. It is tied for the lowest ceiling among the language roles here; the matching Tamil Team Lead listing with the same degree requirement goes up to $25.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • Native-language expertise is the core skill, with no coding needed
  • Remote and hourly, with scope to write content as well as review it
  • Regional variation (India, Sri Lanka, diaspora) is treated as something the job values

Less good:

  • A mathematics degree is mandatory, which excludes many strong Tamil linguists and translators
  • Up to $15 an hour is the ceiling, not a promised rate
  • The ad gives no project start date or hours per week

About this listing

Read from the SME Careers jobs board on 27 October 2026. The board gives no posting date, so we cannot say how long the role has been open. The interview, onboarding and time-tracking process is on the company page rather than repeated here. See SuperAnnotate.
