Tamil Team Lead with Mathematical Background

What you'll do

The team lead (QAL) role is about other people's output as much as your own. You spot-check Tamil items, give feedback by direct message, escalate recurring problems and keep contributors aligned as guidelines change. You also keep the project paperwork: style guides, trackers, FAQs, honeypot examples and onboarding material.

A good share of the week is communication. Trainers and QAs get updates on Discord, questions about wording, register and regional usage land with you, and you chase contributors who have gone inactive. You schedule and run onboarding calls too. The ad says selection involves an AI interview, a domain-specific task and an interview with a recruiter.

What you need

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in Mathematics
  • Native or near-native Tamil with strong reading and writing
  • Good English for following guidelines and giving clear feedback
  • 3+ years in Tamil writing, editing, translation, localization, content QA, AI training, education or annotation
  • Command of Tamil grammar, tone, register, regional variation and cultural context
  • Comfort with Discord, Google Sheets and Docs, trackers and dashboards

Nice to have

  • Experience leading or supporting remote teams of trainers, annotators or QAs
  • AI training, annotation, LLM or rubric-based evaluation experience

Where it is open

Applicants must be in India, Malaysia, Singapore or Sri Lanka.

What it pays

SME Careers lists this role at up to $25 an hour. That is a ceiling, not a rate: the ad does not say what a typical contractor earns, or how hours are allocated. It does not state payment terms either; SuperAnnotate's general process (Deel contracts, a paid bootcamp, tracked hourly work) is covered on the company page. That is $10 above the $15 ceiling on the Tamil Expert listing with the same degree requirement, a normal premium for oversight work.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • Leadership scope: you shape guidelines, onboarding and quality standards for a language
  • Higher ceiling than the expert role in the same language
  • Builds project-management and training experience that carries to other roles

Less good:

  • The mathematics degree is mandatory and unusual for a language role
  • Much of the job is chasing inactive contributors and answering repeat questions
  • Three-step selection (AI interview, domain task, recruiter interview) before any work
  • Up to $25 an hour is a ceiling, and hours are not stated

About this listing

Read from the SME Careers jobs board on 27 October 2026. The board gives no posting date, so we cannot say how long the role has been open. The interview, onboarding and time-tracking process is on the company page rather than repeated here. See SuperAnnotate.
