Dutch Language Expert
What you'll do
You act as the quality check on Dutch AI output. For each task you read a model's Dutch, judge it for fluency, grammar, spelling, tone and cultural fit, look for mistranslations, formal versus informal register slips and logical gaps, and explain what is wrong. Where the project wants it, you write the better version: a rewrite or a gold-standard answer in good Dutch, across everyday areas like customer support, education and conversational writing. You also rank several AI answers against each other.
The ad flags the Dutch-specific wrinkle plainly: Netherlands Dutch and Belgian Dutch (Flemish) differ in tone and vocabulary, and applicants should say which they can support.
Who fits
- A degree in linguistics, Dutch or English literature, communications, journalism or translation, or equivalent professional experience
- Native or near-native Dutch, reading and writing
- English at C1 or above to follow guidelines and write feedback
- 3+ years of writing, editing, localisation, translation, content QA, journalism or teaching
- A sharp eye for literal translations, hallucinated claims and phrasing that misses the cultural mark
Prior AI training, translation QA or rubric-based evaluation is strongly preferred. The role is open in Belgium, Suriname and the Netherlands. SME also lists a Dutch Team Lead role at up to $50 an hour for the quality-lead version of this work.
What it pays
Up to $45 an hour per the ad, with no stated floor. That is $5 below the team-lead listing for the same language. The ad does not describe payment terms; SuperAnnotate's company page covers the Deel contract, paid bootcamp and monitoring software that apply across its hourly projects.
Worth knowing
Good:
- Dutch is a smaller market than the biggest European languages, which can mean less competition for the work
- Flemish and Netherlands specialists are both explicitly welcome
- Remote and hourly with a $45 ceiling
Less good:
- Pay is only an upper bound and the ad does not say how rates are set
- No hours, project length or start date published
- Hourly SME work is monitored with tracking software, per the company page
