German Team Lead

What you'll do

You lead quality for German-language AI training. You spot-check items, give feedback by direct message, post guideline updates for trainers and QAs on Discord, answer their questions and run onboarding calls. You maintain the German style guides, FAQs, trackers and honeypots.

What sets German apart is usage across countries. The ad names Germany, Austria and Switzerland differences in vocabulary, spelling, tone and localization expectations as something the lead must handle, alongside case usage, awkward compounds and inconsistent terminology.

Who fits

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in German, linguistics, translation, communications, journalism, English, education, QA or a related field
  • Native or near-native German and English strong enough to give clear feedback
  • 3+ years in German writing, editing, translation, localization, content QA, AI training or annotation
  • Comfort handling regional German usage, and judging content against detailed rubrics
  • Strongly preferred: experience leading remote teams of trainers, annotators or reviewers

What it pays

SME Careers lists up to $60 an hour, $10 above the German Language Expert listing, with no floor given. The ad does not say how payment is made or how often; the hiring process and payout terms SME publishes are covered on the SuperAnnotate page.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • The experience requirement (3+ years) is lower than the expert role's 5+ years, with a higher ceiling
  • Leadership responsibility covers documentation and process, not only reviewing
  • Selection steps are stated: AI interview, domain task, recruiter interview

Less good:

  • Open to Germany and Austria, narrower than the expert role's three countries
  • The ad says there is no immediate project
  • Lead tasks (calls, DMs, chasing contributors) add overhead beyond review

About this listing

Listed on SME Careers, the site where SuperAnnotate hires subject matter experts, and read from its jobs board on 27 October 2026. The board gives no posting date, so we cannot say how long it has been up. Pay, duties and requirements are SME's own text; the commentary is ours. See SuperAnnotate.
